What data we process and why

We process personal data only to the extent necessary to operate this website.

Preference cookies (country and language). If you click "Save preferences" in the cookie banner, we store your country and language choice in a browser cookie for up to 12 months. Legal basis: your consent (GDPR Art. 6(1)(a)). You can withdraw consent at any time by deleting the cookies in your browser settings or by clearing them via your browser's privacy controls. Withdrawal does not affect the lawfulness of processing before withdrawal.

Email contact. If you contact us by email, we process your email address and message in order to respond to your enquiry. We retain email correspondence for as long as necessary to resolve your enquiry and for a maximum of 12 months thereafter. Legal basis: our legitimate interest in responding to communications directed at us (GDPR Art. 6(1)(f)).

Hosting and access logs. This website is hosted on Vercel (Vercel Inc., 340 Pine Street, Suite 1301, San Francisco, CA 94104, USA). Vercel may process technical data such as IP addresses, browser and device information, request logs, and approximate location derived from IP address to provide hosting, security, and performance services. This processing is carried out by Vercel as a data processor on our behalf. Legal basis: our legitimate interest in operating a secure and functional website (GDPR Art. 6(1)(f)). Cookies

LegalExplain does not use advertising cookies, tracking cookies, or third-party analytics.

We use only optional functional cookies to remember your language and country preference. These are set only if you click "Save preferences" in the cookie banner.

If you click "Continue without saving", no cookies are set and your preference is remembered for the current browser session only (via sessionStorage, which is erased when you close the tab).

You can withdraw consent and delete cookies at any time in your browser settings.

Data sharing

We do not sell personal data. We share data only with:

• Vercel (hosting provider, acting as data processor) — limited technical data as described above.

We do not transfer personal data to third countries outside the EEA except where the recipient provides adequate safeguards (Vercel maintains Standard Contractual Clauses).

Your rights under GDPR

If you are in the European Economic Area, you have the following rights regarding your personal data:

• Access — obtain a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
• Rectification — request correction of inaccurate data.
• Erasure — request deletion of your data where there is no overriding legitimate ground to continue processing it.
• Restriction — request that we restrict processing in certain circumstances.
• Objection — object to processing based on legitimate interests.
• Portability — receive data you have provided to us in a structured, machine-readable format, where processing is based on consent or contract.
• Withdraw consent — where processing is based on consent, you can withdraw it at any time without affecting the lawfulness of prior processing.

We will respond within one month. We may ask you to verify your identity before acting on a request.

Right to lodge a complaint
